The Instruction and Outreach department offers information literacy instruction and research assistance. Through the liaison program, librarians work with faculty and assist in collection development. Librarians are available to help in person, by phone, by email, or by IM. One-on-one Research Advisory consultations are available by appointment if you need in-depth assistance. Librarians offer class tours, demonstrations, and hands-on instruction in the use of library materials, and can help find information on a topic, develop search strategies for research papers or projects, search online catalogs, electronic databases, and the Web. 

Reference Assistance
Reference Librarians are available in the Research Center (2nd floor) and at the Help Desk (1st floor) to answer questions, provide research guidance, and assist with the use of print and electronic resources. Reference assistance is also available by telephone (978-837-5215, x5177), online, Instant Message/IM, or via email (mcquade@merrimack.edu).

Research Advisory
For more in–depth research needs, the Research Advisory Service offers students the opportunity to meet one–on–one with a Reference Librarian to get help with library research. The librarian discusses with students specific topics and assignments, helps students determine the type of information needed, and aids students in finding and using the appropriate library resources to access the information needed. Use the Research Advisory Request Form to schedule a consultation session with a librarian.
