How can I access McQuade’s Library Resources online?
To access McQuade's online resources, it is best to find resources through the library's website.
Here off-campus users will be taken through the library's authentication/proxy system and be asked to enter their Merrimack username and password, the same you would use for MyMack or Blackboard.
If you have problems contact a librarian by emailing mcquade@merrimack.edu or if open, use the Chat box at the library's homepage or on most research guides.
What if I need help from a McQuade librarian on a research assignment?
McQuade Library offers Ask a Librarian and virtual research assistance services here. Feel free to email a librarian or set up an appointment at https://mcquade.youcanbook.me/. Once you set up an appointment, a librarian will reach out to you and figure out the best way to meet with you (via Zoom, Google Hangouts, phone call, etc.).
You can also Instant message chat with a McQuade librarian. On the library’s homepage, enter your question in the chat box and a McQuade Librarian (not an automated bot) will respond in between the hours of 9:00am and 10pm at night, Mondays-Thurs; Fridays 9:00am-6pm; Saturdays, 10am-6pm.
Because of the need to quarantine materials between uses (3 days is current recommendation) and to support remote learners equitably, we are striving for online reserves during the Fall semester. Print/physical items may be added when online cannot be provided or are cost-prohibitive.
If a physical item is on reserve, we will need to quarantine, so the quick turnaround of one copy for multiple users will not be possible.
What if I need help accessing a textbook?
VitalSource or RedShelf are no longer available for free, but students may want to consider these or the publishers' sites (McGrawHill, Cengage, etc.) for etextbook rentals.
But do check MACKsearch, our Library Catalog and the ebooks sites below in case a text you need is available. Or email mcquade@merrimack.edu for help.
What ebooks can I access remotely?
The library has several ebook collections that can be used off-campus.

In this Covid-19 crisis, several are opening up parts of their collections for our use. MACKsearch and the Library Catalog will list most of the ebooks available, but not these newest ones.
Search and view online over 115,000 ebooks in all academic subject areas. Log in and sections or the whole book may be downloaded. EbookCentral/ebrary books are also found and linked in the online catalog.

Will I be charged a fine for not returning materials during this time period?
McQuade Library does not charge fines. Please send an email to circ@merrimack.edu if you have questions about materials you have checked out.
What streaming videos can be accessed remotely?
McQuade Library provides streaming videos via several databases linked below. When off-campus, you will be prompted to login with your Merrimack username and password. See McQuade's Streaming Media Libguide for more info.
Alexander Street Videos and Films on Demand titles are listed in the catalog with direct links.
Search the Kanopy site below for available titles.
To link to videos, look for Share > Permalink / Embed information that will lead to links or programming for embedding into a web page.
If your link is not working, look up the title in the Library Catalog (see below) and copy a link.

Are interlibrary loan services available?
We will continue to obtain books, articles and book chapters for titles we do not own. Please note that delivery times may be slower due to quarantine protocols (3 days is current recommendation).

Can I access online resources from other libraries?
Anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Massachusetts can apply for an e-card from the Boston Public Library. The BPL has a wide variety of digital resources including ebooks and audiobooks, journals and newspapers, and streaming media.
