Access Services Policy Guide

This guide includes all Access Services policies.

Overdue Items

McQuade Library items may be returned at the Library Services Desk on the first floor of McQuade, or returned to any NOBLE library. Interlibrary loan items from outside the NOBLE consortium, which have an orange band around them, must be returned to the McQuade Library Services Desk ONLY.

  • Up to three overdue notices will be sent to the borrower’s email address for any items that have not been returned by the due date. Patrons without an email address on file will not receive these notices, but will still be responsible for returning overdue items in a timely manner.
  • Questions concerning overdue items should be submitted to circ@merrimack.edu.

Billed Items

  • Patrons will be billed for items not returned after overdue notices have been issued and consortium mandated restrictions will be imposed. Patrons with billed items on their account will have their NOBLE borrowing privileges suspended. Borrowing privileges at McQuade Library will be determined by McQuade staff..
  • Merrimack Students: A replacement fee will be charged for each long overdue/billed item. Students will receive notices listing charges via college email. Students that do not receive or open these emails will still be responsible for returning overdue items or paying charged fees.
  • Merrimack Students will be billed at least seven days after a long overdue/billed notice is issued. Once a student is billed, replacement fees for each item will be added to your college bill through the Bursar’s Office and are non-refundable. Any questions should be addressed to circ@merrimack.edu.
  • Please note that course reserve items will be billed seven days after their due date given that they should never leave the library and are in high demand.
  • Public Patrons: Will be charged a replacement fee for each long overdue/billed item. Patrons will receive long overdue/billed notices listing charges via email. Patrons without an email address on file, or those who do not open or receive these notices, will still be responsible for returning items or paying accrued fees.
  • In lieu of fines and fees, newly purchased replacements of lost items may be accepted with prior staff approval. To obtain approval, contact circ@merrimack.edu.
