Putting Items on Course Reserve
- Faculty members can submit course reserve requests by using the Reserve Request form or by email (circ@merrimack.edu)
- Faculty members may submit course reserve material for the duration of the semester in which a course is offered.
- Faculty members may provide the library with a list items to pull from the general collection, or submit personal copies, to be placed on course reserve. If the requested item is unavailable, the faculty member will be notified as soon as possible.
- Under no circumstances will faculty members be allowed to place interlibrary loaned material on course reserve.
- Reference materials will only be placed on course reserve after consulting with the liaison librarian of that subject area.
- Instructor copies of textbooks cannot be placed on reserve due to publisher restrictions.
- Course reserve items can include DVDs, books, e-books, kits, and articles (subject to our copyright policy).
Course Reserve Processing
- The processing of reserve materials may take two business days, with a maximum of three business days during peak periods (e.g., start of each semester, midterms, finals, etc.). Materials are not available for circulation until they have been processed.
- Faculty members may place up to five copies of a single title/item on reserve. This restriction applies to books, journals, photocopies (only if initially approved by the copyright holder), and any combination thereof. The library reserves the right to refuse any photocopies deemed to be in violation of Copyright Laws, Title 17, U.S.Code. Please refer to the library's copyright policy for further information.
Removing Items on Course Reserve
- The Access Services Department will remove all course reserve material at the end of the semester, with the exception of some items that have been placed on permanent reserve. All items will be returned to the library stacks or to the faculty member.
- If an item is to be taken off reserve prior to the end of the semester, twenty-four hour notification is expected, thus allowing the Access Services Department time to de-accession the material from the library system.
