GOOGLE SITES

Greetings, ENG1065A Students-

I look forward to helping you create an informative and visually attractive travel website.   Please engage in this training exercise designed to get you acquainted with both your course guide and the Google Sites platform.

1) Explore your course libguide.  Go through each of the blue tabs on the left side of this page. Different portions of the guide will help you with different pieces of this project.  For example, leveraging library resources (using MACKsearch, finding books and articles) will help you explore virtual tourism.  The Finding Images page will enable you to learn a bit about using images for educational scholarship purposes and how to track down images that are allowed for reuse.

2) Carefully review the Google Sites Tips page.  Watch one video to learn the basics of Google Sites and review all material on the tips page.

3)  Access Google Sites and practice setting up a website.  Create a test website and practice doing these sandbox tasks.  If you can successfully do all these tasks, you're well on your way to creating a beautiful, media-rich website.

If you still are feeling uneasy about Google Sites, or if you get stuck at any point setting up your practice website (device problems, browser issues, etc), don't panic.  Please reach out to me.  I'm happy to give brief demonstrations (in person or online), and together we can troubleshoot and figure things out.

Feel free to book an in-person or zoom appointment with me here.  I'm happy to meet with you individually or in your group.  I check my email often; you can also reach me at chavezl@merrimack.edu.  I am at McQuade Library on Wednesdays from 2pm-10pm and Fridays from 9am-5pm.

Best,
Lyena Chavez
