Nexis Uni, formally Lexis Nexis, is a database that supports business and legal research. It has a streamlined interface with a Google-like search box, making it easy to use. Nexis Uni provides over 15,000 credible news, business, and legal sources.

Sources include: 

• Print and online journals, television and radio broadcasts, newswires and blogs
• Local, regional, national and international newspapers with deep archives
• Extensive legal sources for federal and state cases and statutes, including U.S. Supreme Court decisions since 1790
• Business information on more than 80 million U.S. and international companies and more than 75 million executives

Search Tips / Connectors (When using basic or advanced search boxes)

To find a federal case:

1. Begin on the Nexis Uni home page
2. Under "What are you Interested In?" select "Cases"
3. Under "Jurisdiction" select "Federal Cases"
4. Under "...about" type in your search terms
5. Under "All Dates" select a date range from drop down
6. Click "Search"
7. Narrow/limit your search using options in left panel

To find a state case:

1. Begin on the Nexis Uni home page
2. Under "What are you Interested In?" select "Cases"
3. Under "Jurisdiction" select "State Cases"
4. Under "...about" type in your search terms
5. Under "All Dates" select a date range from drop down
6. Click "Search"
7. Narrow/limit your search using options in left panel

To find a law review article:

1. Begin on the Nexis Uni home page
2. Under "What are you Interested In?" select "Law Reviews"
3. Under "Search in all Law Reviews for" type in your search terms
4. Under "...from how long ago" select date range from drop down
5. Click "Search" 
6. Narrow/limit your search using options on the left  

To find a company information:

1. Begin on the Nexis Uni home page
2. Under "What are you Interested In?" select "Company Info"
3. Under "Search in all Company Information for" type in your search terms
4. Under "...and show me" select the document you want from the drop down
5. Click "Search"
6. Narrow/limit your search using options in the left panel

To find the MOST RECENT SEC filing for a company:

1. From the home page, Click on the link Advanced Search 
2. In the Select a Specific Content Type drop down, Click on SEC Filings
3. Put the company name in the Company Name search field and the form type in Form-Type field (e.g., 10-K)
4. On the Results page, use the Sort by drop down to select Date (newest-oldest) to see the most recent 10-K
